Studio Fitness is lucky enough to have members that have been with us since 19th street. We recognize that we would not be the gym we are today without our loyal member base who have stayed with us through our growth and development, and have supported our new endeavors such as the development of our Facet Seven Method, our new F7 CrossFit Affiliation, and to top it off our second location in EaDo! We strive to show our members how much we appreciate them every day by maintaining a clean workout space, working equipment, helpful staff, and clean bathrooms (we got you ladies 😉). We also like to hold events to show just how much we really appreciate the people that make Studio Fitness feel like a family!

This year’s Member Appreciation Day was without a doubt a huge success! A big shout out to DJ Gonz for the awesome music, we loved all the throwback jams you included.

How many psychologists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Only one – but it’s really expensive, takes a really long time, and the lightbulb has to really want to change. This is one of my favorite jokes from my days as a substance abuse counselor. It’s a playful way of illustrating the plight of affecting change in people and holds true with getting in shape. Think about how much money you’ve spent on diets, fitness classes and gym memberships. How many months or years have you dedicated to programs and routines only to yo-yo up and down or make no change at all? Are you waiting for the right trainer, workout or nutritional program to change your body without you truly needing to change yourself?

The Purpose Of CrossFit

As human beings we grow in our abilities every day, it is the nature of our kind, and through that growth is how we accomplish greater tasks. CrossFit is the way to grow yourself into the best possible version you can be. CrossFit starts with the basic movements you will build upon and stresses that those foundations must be mastered before you can begin to scale up.

Understanding the Quality of Protein

Proteins are essential nutrients for the human body. They are one of the building blocks of tissue and can be used as a fuel source (although this happens as a backup when the body doesn't get enough carbs from the diet). As fuel, proteins can provide as much dense energy as carbohydrates, but the most important aspect of protein quality is the amino acid composition.

Cortisone For Pain: Is it worth it?

Cortisone shots have been around since the early 1950s and are used by doctors to relieve short term pain. Cortisone works by reducing inflammation around a joint, nerve or other structure which helps with pain and can speed up recovery. Cortisone is used on a variety of joins including the knee, elbow, shoulder, etc.

Monday Motivation

When I was a little kid, my dad had a coffee mug with a bunch of clever and silly sayings all over it. The one I most remember was “eat a live toad first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” I remember thinking that was quite a funny albeit horrible way of making sure you had a good rest of your day! As I got a little older I began to realize it was more of a metaphor for not procrastinating.
